Autor: ;JN;
OSIJEK, Nov 26 (Hina) - International Commission for Missing Persons (ICMP) members on Tuesday visited the eastern Croatian area under the U.N. Transitional Administration, the Vukovar-based UNTAES headquarters said in a statement. At the headquarters the ICMP delegation met the Transitional Administrator Jacques Klein, his deputy Derek Boothby and UNTAES senior officials. They discussed the ICMP activities in the area of the former Yugoslavia, according to the statement. It added that Derek Boothby had represented the UNTAES at the ICMP first session held in Geneva on October 11, 1996. The ICMP delegation also met Croatian and Serb families who were searching their missing members, in order to explain them duties of the International Commission and to take advice on issues that families believe are within the competence of the ICMP. The ICMP commission consisted of the Commission's head Cyrus Vance, UN high commissioner for human rights Jose Ayalo Lasso, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross Cornelio Sommaruga, the OSCE national minorities high commission's president Max van der Stoel, and a special aide to the commission's president and a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Herbert Okun.
