GRUJIC: WE EXPECT PROGRESS IN SEARCH FOR TRUTH ABOUT MISSING

Autor: ;RM;
ZAGREB, 21 Nov (Hina) - Representatives of the Croatian Commission for Missing and Imprisoned Persons will demand from Yugoslav representatives who are visiting Zagreb today, to 'take a stand on protocols on identified and unidentified persons from all areas which were once under control of the so-called Yugoslav People's Army (JNA)'. We are not looking for a miracle, but we certainly will make progress, said Major Ivan Grujic, head of the Croatian Government Commission for Missing and Imprisoned Persons, on the occasion of the beginning of today's talks between the Croatian Government Commission for Missing and Imprisoned Persons and the Yugoslav Government Commission for Humanitarian Issues and Missing Persons. Grujic recalled that Croatia is searching for some 2,530 persons. So far, the Yugoslav side has handed over a part of documentation of the Belgrade Army Medical Centre, which has data on 1,400 persons, who were killed in 1991 in the Croatian Danubian area. The Yugoslav side has handed over a part of that documentation, including data on 750 identified and 350 unidentified bodies. The Croatian side will insist on the data it still has not received during this meeting as well, Grujic said. Grujic also said that the Yugoslav side is searching for some 1,020 persons, adding that the number has decreased to some 'more than 900 persons' during the talks. Today's talks between the working commissions of the Croatian and Yugoslav commissions for missing and imprisoned persons, which are also attended by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), will continue tomorrow.
