ZAGREB, 20 Nov (Hina) - A meeting between Croatian and German government representatives on the implementation of the Program on Bilateral Cooperation started in Zagreb on Wednesday. The meeting is being held under the auspices of the
German Ministry for Economic Cooperation in the Croatian Economy Ministry building, a statement from the Economy Ministry said.
ZAGREB, 20 Nov (Hina) - A meeting between Croatian and German
government representatives on the implementation of the Program on
Bilateral Cooperation started in Zagreb on Wednesday. The meeting
is being held under the auspices of the German Ministry for
Economic Cooperation in the Croatian Economy Ministry building, a
statement from the Economy Ministry said. #L#
The meeting is focused on projects of assistance of the
German government to countries in transition, in the establishment
of their legal and economic systems and in the adoption of laws
which would be in accordance with laws in western European
countries and needs of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
The main organizer of the project is the Croatian Economy
Ministry, and the project will be implemented by the German Society
for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), a government-owned company, in
charge of cooperation with foreign countries.
The coordinator of the project is Economy Minister Davor
Stern, and the head of the project is a GTZ representative, Celia
Geissert.
The first phase of the project, for which the German
government has secured DM 1,8 million, will be completed by the end
of 1997. The Cooperation Program expires at the end of 1999, with
the possibility of its extension.
The second phase of the project will include the establishment
of an office in the Economy Ministry which will perform
administrative tasks concerning the already mentioned Croatian-
German projects. The head of the office will be Ivan Secic, advisor
with the Economy Ministry.
