E.U. ENVOY WANTS TO DISCUSS MOSTAR WITH FEDERATION PRESIDENT

SARAJEVO, Nov 3 (Hina) - The European Union special envoy to Mostar, Sir Martin Garrod, has said that he hopes to discuss the town's burning issues with Bosnian Federation President Kresimir Zubak as soon as he returns from Brussels where he is to hold consultations with EU representatives. Zubak holds the key to Croat politics in Mostar. I hope there will be some positive response from him, Garrod said in an interview with the Sarajevo-based Oslobodjenje daily published on Sunday. Asked whether his latest public correspondence with Zubak concerning the situation in Mostar was a sign of his losing confidence in the local institutions of power, Garrod responded negatively but warned that the situation in the town concerned the entire Moslem-Croat Federation. Commenting on his first letter to Zubak in which he had said that at one point 5,000 Moslems could have crossed into Croat- controlled west Mostar, Garrod said that at this moment he did not have information indicating that something like that was going to happen. I wanted to emphasize the existing problems in a figurative way. I realize that a lot of time will pass until all people have returned to their homes in Mostar and across Bosnia-Herzegovina, but those who wish to return must hope that with time this will happen, Garrod said.
