ZAGREB, July 4 (Hina) - The Croatian film "Nausikaja" and its
scriptwriter/director Vicko Ruic were awarded the Film Critics
"Chance Debut" Award for Best First Film at the World "Festival of
Festivals" in St. Petersburg.
The fourth edition of the film festival, which represents the
best achievements in the world film industry in the past two years,
was held between 23 and 30 June.
This year's selection consisted of 109 films from various
world festivals and comprised the works of the most famous
directors, including James Ivory, Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polanski,
Kenneth Loach, Xie Fei and others.
Ruic and his film competed against 15 other films, which
included directing debuts by Liv Ullman, Michael Rymer, Philip
Davis and Garth Maxwell.
"Nausikaja" was also awarded a plaque for successful
participation in the competition at the "Mystfest" International
Film Festival held in Cattolica, Italy, between 23 and 29 June.
