ZAGREB, June 11 (Hina) - The Zagreb-based daily VJESNIK runs a
front-page article in its Tuesday edition on relations between
the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party and the leading
opposition Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS).
The article, published under the headline "HDZ Awaiting
Reply from HSLS Council", says that the HDZ has informed the HSLS
about its platform as a starting point for talks between the two
parties.
The Vjesnik editor in chief comments on the HDZ-HSLS talks
in an article headlined "Negotiations Reach Crisis?"
An article headlined "Elections in Moslem-Controlled Bosnia-
Herzegovina: Five Parties Looking for Voters" says that the
ruling Moslem-led Democratic Action Party (SDA) is trying to use
"the military-government-media machine" to ensure its victory,
and that five opposition parties are forming a coalition.
"Labour Act Did Not Result in Mass-Scale Layoffs" is the
headline of an article which says that union leaders have
favourably assessed the new Labour Act.
Vjesnik includes an article on a statement by the former UN
special envoy to former Yugoslavia, Yasushi Akashi, made in an
interview with the German news agency DPA, that there is a
"secret UN report" accusing the Bosnian Moslems of a massacre at
Sarajevo's Markale market on 5 February 1995. The article is
headlined "Sarajevo Silent on Akashi's Accusations."
Another Zagreb-based daily VECERNJI LIST runs an article on
the forthcoming privatization of Croatian Post and
Telecommunications (HPT). The article says that the government
proposes the separation of postal service and telecommunications.
Vecernji List includes an article on novelties in the Mass
Media Bill.
