All sides had the obligation to report to IFOR the amount and
sort of weapons they wanted to import and it would be checked in
the same way as the weapons already in possession of former warring
sides," Walker said during talks with reporters in Sarajevo.
The embargo on small-arms was abolished three months after the
signing of the Dayton accords and six months later, sides in Bosnia
have the right to import heavy weaponry, including tanks and heavy
artillery.
Commenting problems concerning the freedom of movement, Walker
said that the reality was not as bad as was generally believed.
Some two thirds of crossings over borders between entities had
been successful, Walker said.
