WAR WIDOWS' ASSOCIATION DISSATISFIED WITH POOR CARE

Autor:
ZAGREB, May 31 (Hina) - The Homeland War Widows' Association is dissatisfied with the lack of care they are receiving from the authorities, a Zagreb press conference heard on Friday. "Legal regulations are not being adhered to and no priorities in alloting care resources have been defined," Association representatives said. According to the chairwoman Nada Balog, the Association numbers 2,908 widows. The Association cares for 4,573 children without one parent and 98 children without both parents. The Association insists that children of fallen defenders be granted a full family pension and additional education bonuses. Another burning problem was the war widows without children, who under present regulations are not entitled to a pension, even when they are unemployed and without income, which most of them are. The Association representatives said that 869 flats had so far been granted to families of fallen defenders, while 926 requests were still pending. Many war orphans were put in orphanages where they did not receive proper care. (hina) jn as 311814 MET may 96
