ZAGREB, April 26 (Hina) - Recent media reports on the bankruptcy
and closure of some Croatian shipyards have caused unneccesary
tension within shipping companies, the Ministry of Economy said in
a statement on Friday.
Shipyards in Split, Trogir, Kraljevica, Rijeka and Pula were
in a process of reorganization which was supposed to provide
necessary conditions for their future business, the statement said.
A full programme on restructuring the Croatian shipbuilding
industry is at the moment being carried out in order to improve
production and enable successful business.
The biggest problem of Croatian shipyards in the last five
years has been a low employment rate and financing of shipbuilding,
but this has improved considerably.
