SINGAPORE, March 30 (Hina) - The Singaporean and Croatian
shipbuilding industries may find an interest in joint
cooperation, Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic said on
Saturday after visiting Singapore's Senmbawang shipyard.
After a meeting with the president of Senmbawang's board of
directors, Philip Yeo, Granic said that the Singaporean company
showed an interest in Croatian shipbuilding experience and
technology.
The two sides agreed to exchange delegations to look at
possitilities of cooperation.
Senm bawang developed into one of the biggest shipyards of
southeastern Asia after taking over installations from the
British Royal Navy in 1968. Its revenues exceeded one billion US
dollars in 1995, most of it coming from the overhaul of ships and
the conversion of cargo ships into luxury cruisers.
With the visit to Senmbawang, Granic and members of the
Croatian delegation concluded a two-day official visit to
Singapore and were scheduled to leave for Bangkok later on
Saturday.
