SARAJEVO, Apr 6 (Hina) - Bosnian Federation President Kresimir
Zubak Friday wrote to the deputy High Representative for the
implementation of civilian aspects of the Bosnia peace accord,
Michael Steiner.
The letter proposed "suggestions for the organisation of the
city of Sarajevo" and described the activities Zubak and Federation
Vice-President Ejup Ganic "had jointly undertaken pursuant to the
Sarajevo Agreement and the Geneva Statement," the Bosnian Croat
news agency Habena said.
Joint Croat-Moslem task groups recently held several meetings
to discuss the organisation of the Sarajevo area, including the
"administration of territorial units, participation of constituent
nations, the functioning o f government bodies and their mutual
relations," the letter said.
The letter suggested that the City of Sarajevo should be
organised as a canton with a specific internal arrangement which
would reflect the fact that Sarajevo was the seat of the Federal
government.
"Furthermore, the City of Sarajevo should be preserved as an
administrative-territorial unit whose size should be defined, i.e.
reduced. Thus defined, the City of Sarajevo should form part of
Sarajevo canton," the letter elaborated.
