SARAJEVO, March 25 (Hina) - The Sarajevo branch of the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) party on Monday protested against a visit
to the Sarajevo canton by the international mediator for the
Bosnian Federation, Christian Schwarz-Schilling.
The HDZ said in a statement that the Sarajevo canton had
been established in violation of the law and constitution and
that Schilling's talks with "the illegal cantonal president" cast
doubt on his authority as international mediator.
"The HDZ of Sarajevo is withdrawing all Croatian
representatives from the federal commissions for reintegration of
the city of Sarajevo at the Office of High Representative Carl
Bildt because with the establishment of the illegal and
unconstitutional, single-nation Sarajevo canton the Croatian
people in the city of Sarajevo have been excluded from
participating in municipal government," the statement said.
The HDZ demanded that the Sarajevo cantonal government to
suspend all their unlawful decisions or "the Croatian people in
the city of Sarajevo will be forced to set up parallel bodies of
municipal government and exercise all their national, political,
cultural and other rights through the political community of
Herzeg-Bosnia," the statement said.
