TRAVNIK, March 28 (Hina) - The 49-seat assembly of the Central
Bosnia canton held a constituent session in Travnik on Thursday,
unanimously adopting the cantonal constitution and the statute of
the assembly.
The assembly, consisting of 24 Moslems, 23 Croats and two
deputies representing other ethnic groups, unanimously elected
Midhat Karadzic president of the assembly and Josip Boro his
deputy. Ivan Saric was elected head of the canton, with Halid
Genjac as his deputy.
The adoption of a law on cantonal government was postponed
at the request of Moslem representatives, who argued that it
needed to be brought in line with that of the Neretva canton.
The session was also attended by Bosnian Federation
president Kresimir Zubak and international mediator Christian
Schwartz-Schilling who hailed the resoluteness of the two sides
to hold the constituent session.
