SARAJEVO, 4 Dec (Hina) - At a session held in Sarajevo on Thursday,
the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina
adopted a law annulling all current regulations on the management
of private property which had been declared abandoned during the
war.
According to the law, privately owned real estate will be returned
to its legal owners.
Residential and business buildings on the territory of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, which had been declared abandoned during the war, had
been taken over by municipalities, which allocated them according
to their own criteria.
The existing law on temporarily abandoned real estate has
represented a major obstacle to the return of refugees.
The House of Peoples suggested to the Office of the High
Representative to intensify its efforts aimed at the adoption of a
similar law by Republika Srpska, which would create conditions for
the equal return of refugees to the whole of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
