SARAJEVO, Nov 26 (Hina) - Sarajevo Archbishop Cardinal Vinko Puljic
on Wednesday appealed to international organisations to take more
resolute steps to resolve some burning issues in Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
The appeal was made at a meeting with international High
Representative Carlos Westendorp and his deputy Jacques Klein in
Sarajevo, which focused on problems faced by the Roman Catholic
Church in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Bosnian Catholic news agency KTA
reported.
Puljic drew attention to the fact that Catholic priests still could
not perform their duties in the Bosnian Serb Republic. He also cited
numerous problems, including murders, housing, employment and
restitution of church property, in Moslem-controlled parts of the
Moslem-Croat Federation.
Puljic said that representatives of the international community
were trying to preserve multi-ethnicity in some areas of Bosnia-
Herzegovina while at the same time the issue of Sarajevo as the
capital remained unsolved.
Noting that police security of religious buildings created a very
unpleasant impression among Catholics, Puljic called for the
creation of safety.
Westendorp informed the archbishop of efforts being undertaken to
change property laws and to ensure implementation of a protocol on
the administrative setup of Sarajevo.
Puljic stressed the importance of creating conditions so that all
religious communities could be represented on Bosnian television
because media played a great role in the process of reconciliation,
restoration of trust and return of refugees.
