BRCKO, Dec 3 (Hina) - Under the decree of Robert William Ferrando,
the international supervisor of Brcko, the multiethnic police
should be established in this Serb-controlled northeastern Bosnian
town as of 1 January 1998.
The police will consist of 120 Serbs, 90 Moslems (Bosniaks) and 20
Croats.
The Brcko police chief, Teodor Gavric, and his deputies Pero
Androsevic and Mirsad Haseljic are to draft a plan for the work and
the deployment for 230 policemen, until 13 December.
In connection with this, Teodor Gavric said that Pero Androsevic,
representing the Croat people, and Mirsad Haseljic, representing
the Moslem people, had already arrived in Brcko and were working in
their offices. Besides, there are two officers of the IPTF
(International Police Task Force), whose job is to mediate in the
decision-making process.
Gavric added that sessions were held every day in the Brcko police
station at which he agreed with his deputies on the staff and
organisation of the multiethnic police.
