VUKOVAR, Nov 13 (Hina) - Members of the Transitional Police Force
(TPF) in Croatia's eastern Slavonia will not put on their Croatian
uniforms on 15 November as had been announced, Croatian Deputy
Interior Minister, Josko Moric, said in Vukovar on Thursday.
Deputy spokesman for the UN Transitional Administration for
Eastern Slavonia (UNTAES), Douglas Coffman, said that the
introduction of Croatian police uniforms in the area had been
postponed for a fortnight. The date 1 December had been discussed,
Coffman added.
During his visit to Vukovar and the Danubian area, Moric held talks
with the deputy to the UN Transitional Administrator for Eastern
Slavonia, Souren Serydarian, and visited several TPF stations.
Moric told reporters that during talks with Serydarian, operative
procedures for integrating the TPF into the Croatian Interior
Ministry had been agreed on. This would increase the TPF's
effectiveness and speed up its reintegration into a unified
Croatian police system.
Moric said he was "relatively satisfied" with the work of the TPF.
