ZAGREB, Dec 2 (Hina) - Croatia's Deputy Foreign Minister Ivo
Sanader flew to Canada on Tuesday to take part in a conference on the
ban on the production and the use of anti-personnel land mines.
On behalf of the Croatian government, Sanader would sign a
convention on the ban of anti-personnel mines, the foreign ministry
said in a statement.
The Ottawa conference will gather more than 130 countries'
delegations.
Facing the serious consequences of the use of these mines, Croatia
welcomed an initiative, launched by the Canadian government, for
banning anti-personnel land mines.
Croatia is particularly interested in the process of mines' removal
and in the help to anti-personnel mines' victims.
Sanader is expected to hold several bilateral meetings in Ottawa.
After the conference he will tour Croatian communities in Toronto
and Vancouver.
