SARAJEVO, Nov 29 (Hina) - Co-chairman of the Bosnia-Herzegovina
Council of Ministers, Haris Silajdzic, said on Saturday that
Sarajevo could run a candidate for the organisation of Winter
Olympics Games.
"It is an idea given to me by Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa.
I liked it a lot," Silajdzic told a news conference after a summit of
CEI member-countries in Sarajevo.
"I hope we will receive support from all countries in the
organisation of the Winter Olympics, because this would be the
right award for Sarajevo to maintain a minimum of our civilisation
and European and human values under the worst possible
circumstances," he said.
Sarajevo was the host of the 14th Winter Olympics in 1884. Is has not
been mentioned as a possible candidate for the organisation of new
games.
Most of the infrastructure and stadiums built for that purpose were
destroyed during four years of conflicts.
