SARAJEVO, Nov 17 (Hina) - Bosniak (Moslem) and Serb investigating
teams last week exhumed 48 bodies of people killed during the war in
Bosnia-Herzegovina at two different places within regions
unavailable for them so far.
A spokesman for the international High Representative's office
said in Sarajevo on Monday that areas believed to contain mass
graves had been searched, in line with a 1 November agreement
between the Bosnian Serb and Moslem parties. Jacques Klein, a
deputy to High Representative Carlos Westendorp mediated the
agreement.
Moslem forensic experts searched the area of Kravice, eastern
Bosnia. The Kravice area is believed to be a spot where the largest
number of Moslem men were killed when they fled Srebrenica in the
wake of the Serb occupation of that former UN safe haven.
The spokesman Duncan Bullivant said that Sarajevo authorities
believe that at least 4,000 people were killed after Serbs overran
the Srebrenica region.
In the woody part of Kravice, remains of 200 people had already been
found, and last week a wide area was combed when another 30 bodies
were unearthed.
Bosnian Serbs decided to search Mount Ozren, central Bosnia, where
fierce battles were fought in autumn 1995. During the search, 18
bodies were found and all of them had visible traces of military
uniforms, Bullivant said.
