BH CITIZENS MAY APPLY FOR POLICE IN BRCKO

( Vidi vijest: 6116 ) SARAJEVO, Oct 27 (Hina) - The International Police Task Force on Monday started taking applications of all citizens of Bosnia- Herzegovina who want to be employed in the local police of Brcko, north-eastern BH, UN spokesman Liam McDowall told reporters in Sarajevo. Applications of all persons, regardless of nationality and current residence, will be accepted, he said. Candidates need not have police experience, but must meet certain criteria and pass exams to be conducted by representatives of the IPTF, McDowall said. Robert Farrand, the international supervisor for Brcko, earlier ordered the establishment of a reformed and multi-ethnic police which would become an instrument of newly-elected authorities and would ensure equal protection to all residents of the municipality. Farrand decreed such a police should be established by year's end. An international arbitration commission should by end of March 1998 reach a final decision on whether Brcko will remain within the Bosnian Serb entity. (hina) ha 271459 MET oct 97
