HVAR, Aug 21 (Hina) - Croatian Administration Minister Davorin
Mlakar on Thursday opened a heliport on the island of Hvar (central
Adriatic) - the first heliport on an island in the Dalmatian region
of the Croatian Adriatic Sea.
The heliport's primary purpose will be the transport of
patients from Hvar to the town of Split on the coast by fire-unit
and tourist helicopters.
The building of the 700-square-metre-heliport and an access
path was financed via donations.
The first tourist to land on the heliport after a Croatian Air
Force helicopter was U.S. billionaire Kew Mcow, spending the summer
on the Adriatic on his luxurious yacht, which holds his tiny
helicopter, known as the Kinder Egg.
Night landings are temporarily made possible thanks to the
Informatika Sistemi company from Zagreb, which offered charge-free
illumination to the Hvar Hospital. Permanent night illumination will
be set up by the Koncar company.
