VUKOVAR, Aug 20 (Hina) - A kindergarten, whose reconstruction was
financed by the government of Norway, was opened in the eastern
Croatian town of Vukovar on Wednesday.
The kindergarten "Buducnost" (Future) was the first rebuilt
kindergarten to open in this Danube river town. Reconstruction
work cost about 600,000 German marks.
The Norwegian government plans to invest about 10 million
marks in the reconstruction of the Croatian Danube region.
The kindergarten was opened by Norwegian ambassador to
Croatia Knut Moerkved, Eli Bastholm of the humanitarian
organisation Norwegian Council for Refugees, Vukovar County
deputy prefect Andrija Matic and civilian affairs coordinator of
the UN Transitional Administration in the region Gerard Fischer.
The opening ceremony was also attended by deputy director
of the Centre for the Development and Reconstruction of the
Danube region Slobodan Jovcic and Vukovar mayor Vladimir Stengl.
