MOSTAR, July 4 (Hina) - The councillors of Mostar's three municipalities
with majority Croat population, named South, Southwest and West, at
Friday's session reached a unanimous decision that the three
municipalities should unite as the Association of Croat Municipalities.
All 38 of the present councillors publicly signed the decision.
In line with the decision, the Association's administration was
also established, whose head, until the Bosnian September municipal
election, will be Stipe Maric.
The association of the three municipalities was, according to
Mostar Mayor Ivan Prskalo, "warranted by the Dayton Accord", and should
not, he believed, cause any negative reactions in the international
community.
"The Croat side wants to protect and save the town from major
stressful situations", said Prskalo, adding that the municipalities did
associate "to diminish stress in operational issues in the period
preceding the September election."
