HELSINKI, June 25 (Hina) - Croatia and Hungary on Wednesday signed a
memorandum of understanding on the point of contact of a future highway
that will link the Croatian northern Adriatic port city of Rijeka to the
Hungarian capital Budapest.
The memorandum was signed by Croatian Transport Minister Zeljko
Luzavec and his Hungarian counterpart Karoly Lotz on the fringes of a
pan-European transport conference in Helsinki.
The memorandum stipulates that the point of contact will be on the
Croatian-Hungarian border between Cakovec and Leteny. The highway will
be a part of the pan-European road corridor V.
By the year 2002 Hungary plans to rebuild the existing section and
construct the remaining part of the highway on its territory.
