"We will continue to provide humanitarian help to Croatia, but
- as the situation in Croatia is normalizing, help will be arriving
in another, more valuable form: as bank loans or through the PHARE
programme, which still needs to be elaborated," Ghidi said after
the talks.
Ghidi was chief of the Humanitarian Office more than four
years. In that period, the office sent 1.37 billion ECU's (DM 2.6
billion) of help to Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and FR Yugoslavia,
with Croatia receiving 14 percent of the amount.
Ghidi's successor to the post of chief coordinator of
humanitarian help to Croatia will be special European commission
representative in Zagreb, Peer Vinther.
