The session, held yesterday, is the first official meeting
after the European Union summit in Dublin which resulted in an
official document confirming that the CEI can be an additional
catalyst in preparing non-member countries for their full
participation within the European Union.
As a further contribution of the European Union to the
implementation of concrete development projects in 16 CEI member-
states, Croatia included, EU representatives stressed possibilities
of integrating CEI projects into EU programs, such as PHARE or
TACIS.
Once EU experts have examined CEI projects, CEI member-
countries and the European Commission are expected to reach
agreement and start the first action program of cooperation between
CEI and EU.
The European Union delegation at the Brussels session was led
by directors in the European Commission Administration for Foreign
Relations, Catherine Day and Sipke Brouwer. The session was also
attended by representatives of all 16 CEI members-states.
The Croatian delegation at the session was led by the deputy
head of the Croatian mission in the European Communities, Mladen
Andrlic, and deputy national coordinator Ana Puljic Zunjic, the
statement said.
