BILDT'S OFFICE COMMENTS ON KRAJISNIK-LILIC AGREEMENT

SARAJEVO, 3 March (Hina) - Colum Murphy, spokesman in the office of the high international representative in Bosnia, stated on Monday that international organisations, in charge of supervising the implementation of the Bosnian peace agreement, hold that the agreement on special relations between the Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, is only a draft agreement. The agreement, signed in Belgrade by Momcilo Krajisnik and Zoran Lilic, does not have any legal validity until it is confirmed by the Bosnian parliament, nor can it be discussed further until Bosnian Serbs consult Federation authorities on that matter, Murphy said. However, Murphy did not comment on the content of the Krajisnik-Lilic agreement, although he warned that the Serbs had used some of the old rhetoric, which was not 'in the spirit of Dayton'. A commentary in today's issue of the Sarajevo-based daily 'Oslobodjenje' stresses that no basic objections can be made regarding the Belgrade agreement, as its content springs from the Dayton agreement. According to the author of the commentary, the problem lies in the fact that, should the agreement be implemented, the ties between Republika Srpska and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia would be much closer that the ones between the two Bosnian entities.
