VIENNA, Feb 12 (Hina) - Croatian Constitutional Court
president Jadranko Crnic, currently on a visit to Austria, met
in Vienna on Wednesday with the head of the Institute for the
Danube River Region and Central Europe, Erhard Busek.
Crnic said that they agreed that there were many common
interests and possibilities of cooperation on concrete issues,
which would be discussed in greater detail during Busek's
visit to Croatia.
At the Austrian Constitutional Court, Crnic delivered a
lecture on the work and powers of the Croatian Constitutional
Court.
The Court's basic task is to control the legislative,
executive and judicial authorities as well as to protect
constitutional freedoms and human and civil rights, he said.
"Anyone can lodge a constitutional complaint with the
Constitutional Court if they believe that their freedoms and
rights guaranteed by the Constitution have been violated by
judicial or administrative authorities," Crnic said.
He noted that this possibility resulted in an increasing
number of constitutional complaints.
