MILOSEVIC BACKS REINTEGRATION OF CRO DANUBIAN AREA - GRANIC

Autor: ;JN;
BELGRADE, Feb 19 (Hina) - Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic gave full support to the process of reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area, Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic said after Wednesday's meeting with the Serbian president. Speaking to correspondents of Croatian media, Granic said that Milosevic stressed the need for signing soon all treaties which were agreed upon at today's talks between Croatian Foreign Minister Granic and his Yugoslav counterpart Milan Milutinovic. Asked whether they had considered demands of local Serbs in the Croatian Danubian area, Granic said that they had talked about the matter and that there were no open serious questions, as Croatian President Tudjman and the Croatian Government had shown full understanding for all reasonable demands of the Serb side. "Therefore we feel sure that there are no obstacles on the path toward the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area," Granic said. He added that at the talks with Milosevic it was concluded that the settlement of the problem was in the mutual interest of Croatia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY). Commenting on Wednesday's visit to Belgrade and the several- hour-long talks with Minister Milutinovic, Minister Granic said it was the first real working meeting which revolved around regulation of relations between the two country. Time of historic agreements passed and I think that time has come for resolving many open issues between Croatia and Yugoslavia, on the grounds of the mutual interest and in line with European standards, the Croatian Foreign Minister said.
