SPLIT, Feb 22 (Hina) - A ship called "Don. Frane Bulic" was
launched in the port of Split on Saturday at a ceremony of
launching performed by a Croatian Vice Premier, Ljerka Mintas-
Hodak.
The ship, built for the Split-based shipping company
"Jadroplov", will be used for carrying cargo in bulk.
The building of the ship has been finished two months before
the set time frame.
The worth of this bulk carrier, that is 188 metres long, 31
metres wide and 15 metres high, is US$ 40 million. Its main engine
of 7150 kW was also made in the Split shipyard. "Don. Frane Bulic"
could reach speed of 14.5 knots.
Another bulk carrier is to be built by the end of 1998 in the
Split shipyard for the "Splitski brodar" company.
On Saturday's ceremony it was announced that a keel of a new
ship for a Swiss company, would be laid in the shipyard on February
24.
