DAVOS, Feb 2 (Hina) - Croatian Minister Davor Stern who is visiting Davor for the World Economy Conference, on Sunday held talks with the director of a large Swiss textile company Stahel Hardmeyer AG., Oliver Stahel. The talks focused
on possibilities of cooperation with Croatian business people.
DAVOS, Feb 2 (Hina) - Croatian Minister Davor Stern who is visiting
Davor for the World Economy Conference, on Sunday held talks with
the director of a large Swiss textile company Stahel Hardmeyer AG.,
Oliver Stahel. The talks focused on possibilities of cooperation
with Croatian business people. #L#
Stern also met the president of the world known footwear
manufacturer Bata Ltd. Mr. Bata recalled that a big factory from
his concern used to work in the eastern Croatian town of Borovo.
Stern invited Bata to visit Borovo within the framework of the
business part of the reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area
and discuss the possibility of renewing the manufacture of footwear
with Croatian business people.
The talks established that the biggest problem lay with the
lack of qualified personnel, but Stern said that Croatia could
resolve the problem with the help of some experts from Bata.
During talks with the president of the American cotton
industry concern Cotton Incorporated, Nicholas Hahn, Stern
expressed interest for the possibility of engaging American
experts in the reconstruction and modernization of the processing
of cotton and textile industry in general in Croatia.
As Croatia imports about US$ 12 million-worth of American
cotton annually, stern expressed interest for the possibility of
establishing higher forms of cooperation, from import activities to
joint investments with American producers and processors of cotton.
