DZAKULA UNSATISFIED WITH PROTECTION OF SERBS' HUMAN RIGHTS

Autor: ;MM;
ZAGREB, Jan 28 (Hina) - The Serb Democratic Forum (SDF) secretary general, Veljko Dzakula, said on Tuesday that there was "no significant improvement in the respect for the human rights of the Serb ethnic community in Croatia." "We face the serious violations of the human rights of the Serb ethnic community's members such as provocation, threats, robbery and making impossible for them to visit homes," Dzakula said at a news conference adding that cases of such violations happened more frequently, especially in the area of Knin. Dzakula mentioned several cases of Croatian Serbs who could not return to their homes in western Slavonia they had left during the military action "Flash" and moved to eastern Slavonia or the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Dzakula condemned recent incidents in the eastern Croatian town of Ilok (under the UNTAES control) when a Croatian woman was killed and the entrance door of the Roman Catholic church was destroyed. He also deplored any behaviour "which impedes the process of the peaceful reintegration, regardles of who baheves so." (hina) mm mš 281652 MET jan 97
