Mintas-Hodak said after the talks that guarantees given by the
Croatian government had been reiterated during the meeting. Those
guarantees were included in the Government Letter of Intent and
they related to respect for all cultural rights and the right to
education of all national minorities, including the Serb national
minority living in the Croatian Danubian area.
Education programs for the Serb minority would be applied in
the Croatian Danubian area the way they were being applied in other
parts of Croatia, Mintas-Hodak said.
The talks also tackled the harmonizing of Croatian legislation
with the Council of Europe Convention on Human Rights.
The OSCE commissioner van der Stoel ends his visit to Croatia
on Tuesday.
