P $ ERJURY ZAGREB, 2 Jan (Hina) - The state attorney's office in Zagreb has brought legal charges against three employees of the 'INSTITUT OTVORENO DRUSTVO - HRVATSKA' / 'OPEN SOCIETY INSTITUTE CROATIA' - business manager K.B., executive manager S.D. and accountant I.M. The three employees were indicted for perjury, a statement from the state attorney's office in Zagreb said on Thursday. #L# The indictment was issued on the basis of criminal charges brought against the three persons by the Zagreb police economic crimes department. In the period between December 1995 and December 1996, the indicted employees of the 'OPEN SOCIETY INSTITUTE CROATIA' made the so-called double payroll sheets for employees of the institute. One payroll sheet was in Croatian kuna, the other in American dollars. Obligatory contributions, taxes and municipal taxes were deducted from salaries which were paid in kunas, while the payment of contributions, taxes and local taxes was avoided in case of salaries which were paid in dollars. In this way, the indicted avoided the payment of 2, 564 430 kuna. In order to prevent the establishment of the exact amount of unpaid contributions, taxes and municipal taxes, the indicted had hidden all business documentation necessary for accounting and payment of salaries in the apartment of one of the indicted, the statement said.
