WASHINGTON, Dec 10 (Hina) - The United States Administration on
Tuesday described the decoration of Croatian defense Council
commander, General Tihomir Blaskic, who is currently in The Hague
on a war crimes indictment, as a very negative and exceptionally
inappropriate act of the Croatian authorities. #L#
The United States held that it was utterly inappropriate to
bestow a military decoration onto a person who was indicted by the
International War Crimes Tribunal, State Department spokesman Glyn
Davies said in Washington on Tuesday.
The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that Blaskic's wife
had received the decoration on her husband's behalf on Saturday.
This move of Croatian Authorities brought into question their
commitment to cooperate with the Tribunal, Davies said, adding that
the USA would continue to exert pressures on the Croatian
authorities to fully cooperate with the International Crimes
Tribunal.
