$ SIGNED ZAGREB, 17 Jan (Hina) - The newly-founded company 'Plomin d.o.o.' and the Croatian Electric Power Industry (HEP) on Friday signed five contracts on the purchase and sale of electric power, the sale of movables, real-estate lease, the maintenance of the Plomin electric power plant and joint use of thermo-power plants Plomin I and Plomin II. 'Plomin d.o.o.' is a joint Croatian-German company, one half of which is owned by HEP and the other by the German company RWE Energie, which has invested DM 250 million for the construction of the coal-fired thermo-power plant Plomin II. The contracts, which will facilitate the implementation of a decision on the completion of the construction of Plomin II, were signed by the president of HEP management, Damir Begovic, and members of the 'Plomin d.o.o.' management, Bernd Keinhoerster and Damir Kopjar.

'Plomin d.o.o.' is a joint Croatian-German company, one half of which is owned by HEP and the other by the German company RWE Energie, which has invested DM 250 million for the construction of the coal-fired thermo-power plant Plomin II. The contracts, which will facilitate the implementation of a decision on the completion of the construction of Plomin II, were signed by the president of HEP management, Damir Begovic, and members of the 'Plomin d.o.o.' management, Bernd Keinhoerster and Damir Kopjar. #L# After the signing of the contracts, HEP management director Damir Begovic said that Plomin II thermo-power plant, the power of which is 210 megawatts, will be linked to Croatia's power supply system on 1 January 1999. The plant is expected to produce 1,2 million kilowatt hours. Plomin II will be constructed according to international ecological standards and it will not pile up waste material since the sale of its solid waste material has already been arranged, Begovic said. Plomin II will run on coal with less than 1% of sulphur. The local government will have the right to control the work of Plomin II. There are plans for the improvement of ecological work conditions in Plomin I as well, Begovic said. (hina) rm jn 171552 MET jan 97
