CROATIAN TRANSPORT MINISTER SATISFIED WITH THIS YEAR'S RESULTS

ZAGREB, Dec 23 (Hina) - Croatian Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communications Minister Zeljko Luzavec expressed satisfaction with the achieved results of his Ministry this year at a Christmas party on Monday. "Outstandingly important tasks await us next year: the restructuring of Croatian Railways (HZ), reduction of rails and trains, the construction of around 40 kilometres of highways, the reconstruction of traffic systems and inclusion into European traffic routes. The adoption of new laws with European standards is very important," Luzavec said. Recalling results achieved in 1996, Luzavec stressed the reconstruction of railways destroyed during the war; the inclusion of the telephone system from the UNTAES-administered area into the Croatian Post and Telecommunications (HPT) system; the design of a strategy for the development of a road network in Croatia; the adoption of a new Law on Harbours; and Croatia's inclusion into the unified system of flight control in European countries EUROCONTROL.
