OSIJEK, Jan 19 (Hina) - The association of the Croatian missing and
detained soldiers' families in Osijek-Baranja County, on Sunday
sent a letter with congratulations to the UN Secretary-General on
his recent election to the post. The families also asked him to
help investigate efficiently the cases of missing and detained
Croatian Homeland War defenders.
The association's head, Mrs. Stefica Kristic, said that they
also had forwarded a letter to General Jacques Klein, the U.N.
Transitional Administrator in the Danube river area of eastern
Croatia. In the letter they requested him that everyday unimpeded
movement of a subcomission for the missing person and detainees
should be enabled in the Danubian area "without prior permission of
the other side" in order to establish the destiny of the missing
people.
Parents of Croatian missing and detained defenders expressed
gratitude to General Klein for his work, she said and added that
they were still disappointed as the whereabouts were still unknown
of some 240 Croatian soldiers in Osijek County.
