SARAJEVO, Jan 21 (Hina) - A spokesman for the office of Carl Bildt
the top international peace administrator in Bosnia-Herzegovina,
said on Tuesday that the international community could not only
condemn evictions of people from their flats in western Mostar
(under Bosnian Croat control) and announced that it would also take
concrete measures.
Spokesman Colum Murphy said in Sarajevo that the Bildt's
office would start talks with Croatia's authorities in Zagreb in
order that pressure may be exerted on Bosnia-Herzegovina's Croats.
Carl Bildt has previously used his influence with the Zagreb
Government in connection with this matter, and it will continue,
Murphy told a news conference in Sarajevo. He added that certain
changes could be already noticed.
A spokesman for the UNHCR, Kris Janowski, said on Tuesday that
since the beginning of 1995, 82 persons had been evicted from flats
in the western part of Mostar. The latest cases were registered
this month when a 60-year-old Moslem (Bosniak) woman and a 72-year-
old Moslem man were expelled from their apartments.
