HERZEGOVINA'S TRUCKERS SAY THEY'LL BLOCK BORDER CROSSINGS

CAPLJINA, Jan 20 (Hina) - Truck drivers of 11 southern Bosnian- Herzegovinian municipalities bordering with the Republic of Croatia, on Monday announced protests at border crossings between the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia due to a decision of Croatia to impose road tolls for trucks above five tonnes of carrying capacity, registered in the Republic and Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina. They demanded from the Republic of Croatia to revoke the decision. Otherwise, they threatened that they would block border crossings. "Our costs of transport and services are increased by announced measures (tolls) and Croatia's truck drivers transport goods from the Republic of Croatia and other countries, as they have become more competitive on the market," Herzegovinian truck drivers said. "If our demands have not been met, we shall organize a warning strike at all border crossings from 08.00 to 12.00 hrs on Friday, January 24.
