ZAGREB, Jan 11 (Hina) - The Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) will
present its own list in the proportional representation electoral
system in the forthcoming elections, while in the first-past-the-
post system the party will try to reach agreement with "parties
that have premodification 'Croatian'" - the Croatian Christian
Democratic Union (HKDU), the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS), the
Croatian Social and Liberal Party (HSLS) and the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ), the HSP President, Anto Djapic said on
Saturday.
"We shall try to agree on standing for election together with
the four parties. We will pay attention primarily to curricula
vitae of candidates they (the parties) are proposing," Djapic told
a news conference in a break of the HSP head committee's session.
"If it is impossible to reach agreement, we shall run for the
entire elections independently," Djapic stressed and added that he
expected that his party would win seven to eight percent of the
vote.
Elections for the Parliament House of Counties and for local
authorities and self-governments are due to be in mid-March this
year.
"We expect that we shall become a parliamentary party and a
significant political factor in town and county councils after the
elections," the HSP leader told reporters.
He called on all Croatian parties to stand for election in the
Danube river area in a joint block, regardless of their
differences, so as to "neutralize results of ethnic cleansing a
little."
