SPLIT, Oct 3 (Hina) - All entry routes for Znjan (on the Split
shoreline), where Pope John Paul II will lead a eucharistic
ceremony on Sunday, were opened after 7pm on Saturday.
Pilgrims have started gathering and the first one to enter the Znjan
plateau was Ilija Zovko, from Zepce (central Bosnia-Herzegovina).
Zovko said he would spend the night on Znjan and his family would
arrive later.
The Vatican, Croatian and the President of the Republic flags have
been displayed at a beautiful altar placed in the centre of the
Znjan plateau.
The whole scene is dominated by a large cross with the crucified
Jesus.
A vigil, accompanied by musical and religious programmes, will
start at midnight.
