PRISTINA, Sept 8 (Hina) - Adem Demaqi, the political representative
of the Kosovo Liberation Army, has asked the United States to
appoint a special envoy who would be exclusively in charge of
Kosovo, Yugoslavia's troubled southern province.
The problem of Kosovo should not be dealt with by the US Ambassador
in Macedonia, Demaqi told reporters in Pristina on Tuesday.
The person to deal with that issue should not favour force and its
results and bring Kosovo Albanians into a dead-end situation, he
added.
Demaqi also criticised the policy of European countries towards
Kosovo, accusing them of a lack of efficiency.
He also accused the Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic and his
regime for the tragedy the Albanian people were going through.
Asked about the proposal on a transitional agreement in solving the
Kosovo crisis, Demaqi rejected it claiming that the proposal did
not include conditions set by the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Asked about his opinion concerning possible new elections in
Kosovo, Demaqi said he would support them should they be held under
the supervision of the world's leading powers and enable the
Albanian people to express their free political will.
