WITNESS QUESTIONED IN SAKIC CASE

( Editorial: --> 7885 ) ZAGREB, Sept 3 (Hina) - A witness was questioned by the Zagreb County investigative judge on Thursday in relation to the Sakic case. Dinko Sakic was a former commander of the Jasenovac concentration camp during the Independent State of Croatia (NDH, 1941-1945), extradited by Argentina to be tried in Croatia. Witness Ljuba Blazina was apprehended in June 1942 and brought to a concentration camp in Stara Gradiska where she spent two years. Blazina, the sister of a fighter against fascism, Vlado Janjic, told the judge she herself had not witnessed any maltreatment, torture or executions of prisoners She also spent some time in the Jasenovac camp, working as a labourer. Blazina had on several occasions met Sakic's wife in Gradiska, but she did not testify on Nada Sakic's conduct at the camp. Defence attorney for Dinko Sakic, Ivan Kern, said the judge had questioned some 20 witnesses so far, with another four to be questioned by September 11.
