GARROD PRAISES PRSKALO

Autor:
( Editorial: --> 6159 ) MOSTAR, August 26 (Hina) - Martin Garrod, Head of the Regional Office of the High Interanational Representative for Bosnia- Herzegovina, and Ariane Quentier, spokesperson of the UNHCR in Bosnia-Herzegovina, on Wednesday welcomed the action of the Mayor of Mostar, Ivan Prskalo. Prskalo two days ago lead a group of forty Croat refugees to visit their homes in the east Mostar neighbourhood of Zakrizje. Quentier invited Croats interested in return to that neighbourhood to register with the UNHCR in order to obtain help for restoring their homes. The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) head in Mostar, David Foley, condemned parties' passive election campaign behaviour in the southern regions of Bosnia-Herzegovina. In Foley's opinion, only the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia- Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) showed a more active campaign involvement in that it published its promotional materials in the electronic media, both in the eastern and western parts of Mostar. He also announced the schedule of TV and radio election appearances of Croat, Bosniac and Serb candidates for the Presidency of Bosnia- Herzegovina. According to Foley, Bosniac candidates for the Presidency will present their political agendas in Sarajevo on September 3, and three days later there will be such presentations of Croat candidates in Mostar. Serb candidates for the president of Republika Srpska will have a presentation on September 8, and those for the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina on September 10 in Banja Luka. All pre-election appearances, Foley explained, will be broadcast by the Television of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Television OBN (Open Television Network sponsored by the international community) and the Serb Television from Banja Luka. They will also be simultaneously broadcast by FERN, the OSCE radio. (hina) jfk 262051 MET aug 98
