PRISTINA, July 31 (Hina) - The Kosovo Human Rights and Freedoms
Watch on Friday reported that the Yugoslav army was since morning
using heavy artillery in attacking Kosovo's largest village Junik
near the Albanian border.
Members of the Kosovo Liberation Army were responding strongly, but
no information on the consequences is available yet, the Watch
said.
According to the Kosovo Information Centre, Serbian forces have
been attacking seven Albanian villages along the border area with
Albania, from Djakovica to Junik, for six consecutive days.
This morning, Serbian forces shelled Pjetersica, Karacica, Krojmir
and Duga, villages in Stimlje Municipality in central Kosovo.
One Kosovo Albanian was killed in these attacks, Kosovo Albanian
sources said.
Clashes were also registered in Klina Municipality. Three Albanian
young men were killed during attacks on the villages of Jasanica and
Buroja.
Serbian forces are also attacking five villages in Lipljane
Municipality, where almost 20,000 refugees from other war zones are
located.
According to Kosovo Albanian sources, two Albanians were killed,
while five were wounded in this area, including a three-year-old
child.
Albanian sources in Pristina also reported that Serbian forces were
looting the village of Malisevo, and that houses on fire could be
seen in Blace, a village near Suva Reka.
