PRISTINA, July 30 (Hina) - Albanian sources in Pristina on Thursday
reported that Serbian forces last night continued attacking and
shelling Albanian villages in several areas of the south Yugoslav
province of Kosovo.
Late yesterday Serbian forces reported about armed conflicts
between armed Albanians and the Yugoslav army in Kosovo areas
bordering with Albania.
A special statement from the Yugoslav army said at least three Serb
officials and one soldier were killed in those clashes. Many
Albanians were either killed or captured, the statement added, but
did not specify the number.
Serbian police reported the Mitrovica-Pec road had been opened
after several months of blockade.
Albanian sources did not confirm the reports of either the Serbian
army or police.
According to the Kosovo Information Centre, violent battles were
fought along the Mitrovica-Pec road.
Serbian forces shelled several villages along the road, and began
with stronger attacks on several Albanian villages in Klina
Municipality.
Clashes continued in Junik, Kosovo's largest village near Decane,
and in villages in Djakovica Municipality, both not far from the
Albanian border.
