LIVNO, July 17 (Hina) - The (Muslim) Party of Democratic Action
(SDA) for south-west Bosnia on Friday requested the replacement of
Herceg-Bosna Canton Prefect Mirko Bakovic, Prime Minister Filip
Andric and Interior Minister Barisa Letica, protesting over the
killing of a Livno Muslim Sefik Torlak, which happened on Thursday
night.
Herceg-Bosna Canton police today reported that the 40-year-old
Torlak was wounded from firearms at 9.15pm Thursday in Livno.
The wounded was transported to Livno hospital and later to Split
hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
A suspect has been arrested and an investigation is underway, the
police said.
In a statement issued today the SDA strongly condemned Torlak's
murder and asked for determined proceedings and the punishment of
perpetrators.
The party also remarked that all incidents in the canton, including
Thursday killing, were the result of inconsistent policy of canton
and Federation officials and the international community in
organising a multi-ethnic police force.
If Federation leaders and international community cannot help us in
solving problems, we will be forced to seek some other way to
protect ourselves, said the statement signed by the president of
the SDA canton committee for south-west Bosnia, Jasenko Tufekcic.
The party also called on the Federation Interior Minister, his
deputy, high international police officials and representatives of
the Office of the High Representative to immediately visit Livno.
