CEROVLJE, July 3 (Hina) - Croatian Transport Minister Zeljko
Luzavec on Friday opened for traffic a section of the future
motorway through the Istria peninsula called the "Istrian Y".
The section from Cerovlje to Rogovic stretches 11 km and is crucial
for the functioning of traffic in the whole of Istria, from Pula and
the whole western coast of Istria to Rijeka and Zagreb.
The construction of the section which also has three viaducts cost
US$20.6 million. The highest allowed speed for most of the section
is 100 km/h and 80 km/h for some parts of the section.
Present at the opening ceremony were MPs, representatives of the
Istrian County and towns and representatives of the builders.
